Hair Styling FAQs

What is the current look in hair styles for this year?

The trend is leaning towards a softer look. This means low buns, chignons are very popular. Hair can either be soft with slight curls pulled back into the chignon, or smooth and sleek. Barrel curls are in less demand for 2007.

Wearing your hair out is always great for the less formal look.

What is the best hair length for an Up-Style?

It really depends on the hair style. We suggest having your hair no longer than your bra strap. Touching your shoulders is also suitable, unless you want big height with padding or barrel curls.

My hair is really thin. How can I make it look thicker?

Adding a few hair extensions will thicken the hair. We can add this by either keratin glued hair extensions or by micro clips.

Wefts and hair pieces can also be added for additional fullness. The hair will require an assessment to ensure the best possible out come.

Do I need to wash my hair the morning of the wedding?

Clean hair is preferred by ANL stylist. If you have normal to dry hair, wash the night before and blow dry without serums or other styling  products—unless you have pre-consulted with us—.

If you have oily hair, wash your hair the morning of your wedding day. Be sure your hair is dry before we arrive (unless you are having a blow wave).

Heated Rollers cannot be placed in damp or wet hair.

How do I choose my hair style for my wedding day?

Be sure to study your style of dress and your personal features. A garden wedding with a simple, yet elegant dress should have a hair style to complement. We suggest a relaxed half up style, or less formal up-do. Adding tiny flowers or one lily worn on the side of the hair.

Formal wedding’s require the hair style to be elegant and stunning. By adding diamantes and crystals pins, tiaras etc produce that extra touch of elegance to any up-do hair style.

Tip! Decide on your hair style first, before you purchase your hair accessories.

What preparation should I do to my hair leading up to the wedding?

Your hair should be trimmed every 5-6 weeks. Have a consultation to discuss colour with us. Maybe your hair requires a colour correction or a few simple foils or hair extensions to high light the hair. This will bring out the best in your hair for the photographs.

Your hair colour should be freshly done the week of the wedding. Hair re-growth can be noticed in as little as 2 weeks. Book your colour appointment the Monday before the wedding.

What’s New for hair in the way of styling products?

White Sands is the preferred styling product for the team at A N L. The product is brilliant, allowing the hair to be styled with ease. Create beautiful down styles with curls that will last!

White Sands Liquid texture is available in strong, medium and light hold. The White Sands Smudge styling gel is fabulous to create the “funky” look or add that defined look to your “flicks”.

White Sands Nourishing Shampoo is recommended before you colour your hair. The shampoo is designed for everyday use. It will gently cleanse the hair and remove styling products that contain silicone from out of the hair cuticle.

When should I book my pre-wedding trial?

We suggest having your hair trial approximately 5-7 months before your wedding day.
Your style should also have been decided. Time does not permit girls to arrive with no idea of what style they would like.

Research by looking through magazines and web sites.

Arrive with 2 or 3 images you like for your trial.

Trial time: 60 min.
